Foreign Language

Foreign Language is a strong department at Haverling. The department offers a full complement of courses in Spanish, Latin and French.

Students have the opportunity to study French I, II, III, as well as an ACE French that provides college credits from Corning Community College. In Latin students are able to select Latin I, II, III, IV while Spanish classes available are I, II, III, ACE Spanish and Spanish 5.

The Language program is required for graduation. For a local diploma a student needs 2 years of a language. For a regents diploma a students needs 3 years of the same language with the successful completion of the Regents Exam. A student may exempt the language requirement by pursuing a 5-unit occupational sequence.

There are 5 full-time and one part-time foreign language teachers in the department. All of these teachers supervise a club in their specific language.
