High School Health

General Health is required for all senior high students for either 1/2 of a year (two days out of the three day rotation) or for a full year (one day out of the three day rotation). Taught by: Ms. Wolfanger.

Here at Haverling Central School the Health Education Program is committed to the New York State mission for Health Education: "students will understand human growth and development and recognize the relationship between behaviors and health development. Students will understand ways to promote health and prevent disease and will demonstrate and practice positive health behaviors".

This mission statement can further be broken down into three key elements:
1. Personal health and fitness
2. A safe and Healthy Environment
3. Resource management

Using a variety of educational techniques including many hands on technology based activities we delve into areas of: Wellness, decision making, physical fitness, nutrition, personal health, mental and emotional well-being, stress management, resolving conflicts, violence prevention, adolescent sexuality, medicines and drugs, diseases and disorders, consumer decisions, and more. Health is learning about life, living life, and loving life.
