HHS Special Education

Students are serviced for special education in numerous ways throughout the Bath Central School District by providing services for the following types of classes:

Note: All classes include instruction in the academic areas of reading, writing, math, social studies, science, health, and language. Depending on a child’s individual needs, he/she may receive other related services such as speech therapy, adaptive physical education, counseling, and etcetera.

15:1 (K-6) classes are for students who have mild learning problems because of their rate of learning or who have a mild social, emotional or learning disability. There may be up to 15 students in the class with a full-time special education teacher.

15:1 (7-12) classes are for students who have mild learning problems because of their rate of learning or who have a mild problems because of their rate of learning or who have a mild social, emotional, or learning disability. These students are mainstreamed into regular education classes or are accompanied by a special education teacher or teaching assistant into the regular education classes. This is a high school diploma tract.

12:1+1 classes are for students who have learning problems because of their slow rate of learning, have a learning disability or have moderate social and emotional problems. There may be up to 12 students in the class with a full-time special education teacher and teaching assistant.

8:1+1 classes are for students who have social/emotional and/or intensive behavior management needs. There may be up to 8 students in the class with a full-time special education teacher and teaching assistant.
