News from DLL Library

Welcome to the new school year!!  We are starting an exciting new project in our library - Letterboxing.  First off let me give you some more information on Letterboxing - it started in Dartmoor, England in 1854 with James Perrott and has grown to be a world wide hobby.  The students of DLL will be experiencing this hobby within their library to help them learn about the Dewey decimal System; Information Literacy; 21st Century Learning; Local History; Geography; Literature; Art; Science - WE ARE SO EXCITED!!!  If you would like to learn more about Letterboxing check out theses website: www.letterboxing.org and www.atlasquest.com - this is an awesome hobby to do together outside of school.

This week the students learned about the history of Letterboxing and made their own "rubber" stamps, actually foam stamps.   Each student was able to choose a pre-cut foam shape or design their own and glue it to a wooden block.  Within the next couple of weeks the students will take their first letterboxing adventure – finding our letterboxing tools.
