Maria Quintal

Coordinator, Bath Area Family Resource Center

Maria Quintal has been the Coordinator of the BAFRC since the Center officially opened in July 2007. Previously she worked for Steuben Child Care Project, a Division of ProAction, Inc., for 10 years advocating for quality child care.  In addition, Maria worked for the Nonnie Hood Parent and Family Resource Center in Corning for six years as a Parent Education Specialist. Maria holds a Bachelors degree in Human Services from Elmira College. She resides in Corning and has two daughters who live in Florida.

Maria states, “My greatest passion is getting to know all kinds of families, providing a welcoming Center for everyone, and providing resources to help make parenting a little less stressful.  I am especially grateful to Jeannie Gallagher, School Social Worker, for her positive leadership, the support of the VEW School staff, the extreme helpfulness of our Advisory Board members, the many enthusiastic volunteers, and the support from the members of the Steuben Family Enrichment Collaborative. Without these great people the BAFRC would not be the successful program that it’s become!”

“I invite everyone who hasn’t had a chance to visit the BAFRC to drop by any time and check out what we’re all about!"

Carrie Jake, AmeriCorp Kids First Initiative Worker

"Hi, my name is Carrie Jake and I am a mother of three: Madison, age 8, Logan, age 6, and Emily, age 3.  I am currently placed here at the Center throught AmeriCorps Kids First Initiative.  On top of all that, I am a fulltime student at Empire State College working on a B.S. in Human Development with a concentration in Child Psychology.  I am also a graduate of Corning Community College with a A.A.S. degree in Early Childhood Studies with a one year certificate in Early Childhood Services.

"I really love working with children and their families so my placement here at the Center has been a blast so far.  Please stop in to chat and I hope to see you soon."
