Financial Aid
FAFSA
Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA should be filled out by EVERY college bound student EVERY year in order to accept Work-Study, Grants, Federal Student Loans and even Merit-Based Scholarships. In December, students and their parents can apply for their unique PIN at www.studentaid.gov. The FAFSA form can be completed starting October 1st for the following school year. Each institution may have separate deadlines for completion.
NYS HESC
New York State Higher Education Services Cooperation or HESC is the organization responsible for New York State based aid. To receive state based aid, a student must first complete their FAFSA application first. Information for the Excelsior Scholarship and Enhanced TAP can be found on this page.
Scholarships
To help all students with the cost of post-secondary education, scholarship money is awarded by a variety of organizations. The following websites are recommended by the guidance department as safe, reliable resources. Each site takes information about prospective college students to help select scholarships that would apply to that individual.
Students are also encouraged to check with colleges/universities at which they are applying for additional scholarships from each school.
The following links are all scholarship search engines. Each search engine will ask students to build a profile in order to match scholarships that fit that student's criteria.
