Guidance Department Mission Statement

  • Guidance Department Mission Statement

The Haverling High School Guidance Department provides services to supplement and enhance the teachers' efforts to provide the maximum educational opportunity for each and every pupil.  Guidance generally emphasizes:

    • Services to the individual student

    • Services that assist teachers

    • Services that contribute to the general school program

    • Services that promote parents' understanding of the school

More specifically, the counselor assists the student in educational planning, career-decision-making and personal-social adjustment.

Counselors recognize the importance of individual differences and attempt to gear the educational program to the urgencies of each student by assisting the individual in planning his or her own activities.  It is through the guidance program and the counseling relationship that students receive help to interpret and integrate the world in which they live.
