High School Art Offerings

  •               Art Course Offerings at Bath Central School

     

    Studio in Art :  This course may be elected for one credit or 1/2 credit.  It is a pre-requisite for certain upper level art courses.  Studio in art explores drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, graphic art and computer generated art. 

    Drawing : This one credit advanced course for students who desire to participate in the study of drawing.  The course will provide opportunities to explore pencil, charcoal, pastels, colored pencil and ink.  Projects include portraits, landscapes and still life subject matter.  

    Painting:  This is a one credit, advanced course is  for students who desire to participate in the study of painting.   The course will provide opportunities to explore acrylic, tempera, watercolor and oil paint.  Projects include portraits, landscapes and still life subject matter.  

    Fashion Design: This 1/2 credit course investigates the development of fashion design and fashion illustration, the processes involved in designing garments, costumes and preparing fashion illustrations for reproduction.  The student will design and construct their own garment.  

    Graphic Design: 

    Portfolio Class :  This one credit, advanced course prepares art majors for college by developing a collection of their artwork in the form and development of a portfolio.  

    Creative Crafts:  This 1/2 credit course is designed for students who are interested in exploring the design possibilities in various materials such as wood, ceramics, glass, fabrics and found materials.  Students will make books, wood and wire sculpture, fabric and tie dye projects, jewelry, ornaments and other contemporary crafts.  

    ACE Essentials of Art:  This one credit college level course is an introduction to the visual arts, emphasizing the understanding and appreciation of art from the beginning of time to the present.  Readings, research, video, art museum visitations and art projects will aid in the exploration.  

    Sculpture:  A one credit course in the various mediums that an artist would use to create and express ideas in three-dimensional forms.  Students will be working with clay, soap stone, plaster, wood and other found materials.

    Ceramics:  This is a one credit course that introduces students to various clays and hand building techniques.  Students will have many opportunities to throw with the potter's wheels and embellish their works with different types of technique.

    Photography:  This is a 1/2 credit course that introduces students to the art of photography.  Students will learn various techniques using 35mm cameras.  They will explore the usage of black and white film and development techniques.
